California New Testing System

Beginning with the 2013–14 school year, California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) is the new student assessment system in California, replacing the Standardized Testing and Reporting system (STAR).

On January 1, 2014, California Education Code Section 60640 established the CAASPP System of assessments. The CAASPP provides a more detailed overview of the system. For 2014–15, the CAASPP System includes the following required assessments and tools:

Smarter Balanced Assessments – The Smarter Balanced Assessment System utilizes computer-adaptive tests and performance tasks that allow students to show what they know and are able to do. This system is based on the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) for English language arts/literacy (ELA) and mathematics.

Test Results 2018-19 for Sacramento City Unified School District was released in September 2019.  The Black Parallel School Board documented a report on the status of black students for 2018-19.

The Black Parallel School Board (BPSB) is a community organization developed to work parallel to the Sacramento City Unified District Board of Education. Its major responsibility is to support the educational growth and achievement of Black students.
