Sacramento City Unified School Board Meeting
Thursday, June 24, 2020 at 6:00pm
(Public comments will be accepted until 12:00 noon on Thursday, June 25)
WHY: The use of education funds to pay law enforcement to police our children and our schools is a racist policy that needs to end irrevocably. We urge the district to implement anti-racist policies that increase racial equity for our students to thrive personally and academically.
WHERE: Watch with us on Facebook Live , View Meeting Metro Cable 14 or through the District Website
We stand shoulder-to-shoulder with our students that are negatively impacted by police interactions in their school campus and who are leading the effort to denounce institutional racism in our education system.
We demand that the SCUSD Board of Education:
- Make a public pledge to put a final end to future contracts with law enforcement and institute an Alternative Safety Plan designed with
students, parents, teachers, and community for the school year 2020-2021 .
- Reinvest the safety funds in academic and mental health counselors, social workers, bilingual staff, campus monitors, and student supports.
- Make a public pledge to not take any money from police unions for their political campaigns as a stance against institutional racism.
Public comments will be accepted until 12 Noon on Thursday, June 25.
