Dr. David Covin Scholarship Fund 2024

The David Covin Scholarship Fund was established in 2023. The mission of the scholarship program is to provide financial assistance to Black students who are graduates of a Sacramento area high school by the end of the spring term, of 2024

Dr. David Covin, professor emeritus of government and ethnic studies at Sacramento State, is remembered for his many contributions to the university and the wider community. Dr. Covin passed away June 3. He was 82.  Through his outstanding leadership and vision, Sacramento witnessed and benefited from the Sacramento Black Book Fair, Blue Nile Press, Congress of African Peoples’ convenings, the Black Parallel School Board, Sacramento’s first and only Black think tank, The Black Group.

Application due date: Friday, April 12, 2024 by 5 o’clock p.m.

  1. DEADLINE for scholarship applications is Friday, April 12, 2024 by 5:00 p.m.
  2. Awards will be made in May 2024
  3. You will be notified by email, phone, or mail in May regarding the status of your application.
