In June 2016, the Central Valley Movement Building Coordinating Team was formed. The Central Valley Movement Building Coordinating Team consisting of Black Parallel School Board, Tower of Youth, Fathers and Families of San Joaquin and the Dolores Huerta Foundation has been working to support a movement for educational justice in the Central Valley.
Central Valley Movement Building (CVMB) is a movement alliance of community-based organizations in the Central Valley working to expose and dismantle the school-to-prison pipeline with an active body of students and parents as leaders in Kern, Kings, Fresno, Madera, Merced, South Sacramento, San Joaquin, Stanislaus, and Tulare County. CVMB has thoughtfully developed and implemented, practices and strategies to build the movement in an organized and sustainable way. The vision of Central Valley Movement Building is to dismantle the school to prison pipeline, remove cops on school campuses, with an active engagement of students and parents as decision makers.
Using a Central Valley Movement Building regional connector, coordinating team and partners the CVMB engages in the following: communities listening sessions, convenings, webinars and community support using the Ella Baker and Paulo Freire approaches to organizing.
