The purpose of the BPSB trainings is to empower parents as organizers and advocates to close the opportunity gap in the racial school system, and to transform school to reflect the needs and support of African Descended students.

Parent Workshops

BPSB provides parent workshops, including Know Your Rights, How to Make Your Home Education-Friendly, How To Get Your Child In College, What Is Common Core and Smarter Balance Testing, What Is The Local Control Accountability Plan, and The Goals and Needs of Restorative Justice.

Parent Support Services

The Black Parallel School Board provides support services to parents. BPSB members can attend school meetings with parents to advocate for their children to address school discipline, teacher/student relationship, Gate programs, testing, and building positive school climate.

The Black Parallel School Board (BPSB) is a community organization developed to work parallel to the Sacramento City Unified District Board of Education. Its major responsibility is to support the educational growth and achievement of Black students.
