The Black Parallel School Board (BPSB) is a community organization developed to work parallel to the Sacramento City Unified District Board of Education. The BPSB’s major responsibility is to support the educational growth and achievement of Black students by monitoring all educational activities and programs of the school district to ensure that they are compatible with the needs of African American students in the district. Additionally, the BPSB provides support services to parents regarding the education of their children.

THE SACRAMENTO AREA BLACK CAUCUS (SABC)
THE ROSENWALD “ROBBIE” ROBERTSON SCHOLARSHIP
This annual award is made to African American students from the Sacramento area community who meet the standards of academic achievement, community service, and commitment to the African American community exemplified by the life of the late Sacramento City Councilman, Rosenwald “Robbie” Robertson. The scholarship awards for $500.00 each will be awarded on May 2018.
Applicants must have graduated from a Sacramento area high school by the end of the spring term, 2018. Applicants must demonstrate a record of service to the African American community, and a record of academic achievement and leadership. This award is available to recent high school graduates and returning college/university students. Evidence of admission to a higher education institution, or continuing enrollment status in a college/university must be provided.

UNCF is pleased to announce $20 million gift established the UNCF STEM Scholars Program, an initiative designed to identify and provide financial and academic support to five cohorts of 100 students (a total of 500) who are African-American college freshmen and who aspire to earn Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) degrees and pursue careers in STEM fields.
